Meet the Assistant Principal
I am very excited to be a part of the West Fannin Elementary family as the Assistant Principal. I proudly taught band at Fannin County High School for 19 years, with a total of 29 years in the classroom at the middle school, high school, and collegiate level.
My degrees include a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) from the University of Georgia, a Master's degree from Northwestern University in Music Performance, and a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Furman University.
I continue to assist with WXFC, 92.7FM, an FCC licensed radio station run by the Fannin County Board of Education. I am also the current president and a conductor of the TriState Community Band based here in Fannin County. I am humbled to have been awarded FCSS Teacher of the Year in 2017, and most recently the Bandworld Legion of Honor.
I am married to Julie Barnstead, a Spanish and ESOL teacher. We have three adult children: Alex serves in the Air Force, Emma is a graduate music student at Indiana University, and Lucas is a student at UNG.
I am eager to serve the students and faculty at West Fannin Elementary and look forward to a GREAT year!
Dr. Scott Barnstead
